New Joists and Sub Floor Page 2

New Joists in place....ahhhh, it's a beautiful thing. And in pic two on the right you can see the new plumbing.....yay! We'll have a new bathroom the 1st of January. What a way to start the new year off!

Here are more new joists in the living room....you can see the limestone foundation and our lovely flex venting that runs throughout the house. We are replacing it as we go. And then there was insulation! What a novel idea! Pretty cool and I expect a lot warmer.

New Joists and sub floor in living room

There were two layers of wood flooring in the living room. Here we the top layer is coming up. See the lovely asbestos riddled flower floor covering in pic one? Ah, the sacrifices we must make. Unfortunately, we were able to save any of the beautiful flowers!

The pic below is day one and shows the top layer gone. As you can see, Boots and Dolly are on the job. They are so dedicated and love their jobs!

Here is Jordan taking up the second layer of flooring and Dave checking out what lies ahead!

Merry Christmas! This is what Dave and I did on Christmas Eve. Woo-hoo, we party hardy!

Hello from Florida!

Here are a couple of pictures we took in Florida. Somebody had a really bad day. Their car burnt to nothing but a frame. Some Christmas they had!

Well, we've put off doing the living room floor because we are currently in Florida. It has been a great trip so far...except Dave and I swapped positions. He's getting better and I have the crud. Ick.

We started off in Melbourne, FL and then gallavanted around Cocoa Beach and are currently in West Palm Beach. I just love Florida. It's been like summer everyday....high 70's. It's gorgeous here. We walked along the beach one night. There just is nothing like walking in the sand...the feel of the wet sand squishing between your toes just sort of brings everything into perspective.

Anyhow, we will be leaving soon. I wanted to stop back by and see my dad and step-mom on the way back, but i don't know if that will work out or not. We stopped and had Christmas on the way here so that was good. Well, we'll be back in Iowa in a few days.

Update

Well, Super Dave is recovering...still has a very nasty cough, but feels so much better now. Super Dave is up and about but taking it kind of easy. But! This Saturday we are going to start the living room floor! Yeah! We are hoping to have it finished by Sunday so stay tuned for more pictures of the lovely Pierce 1896 Folk Victorian Mansion. Once this floor is finished we move upstairs to make our tri-level 2nd level floor all one level! Now, there's a novel idea. In case you don't understand, our 2nd floor currently has three different levels. Super Dave, being Super is going to rid us of all the multi-level-ness.

Stay tuned...should be interesting. Of course, pics will follow.

Errrrrrr! Stop!!!! Hold on just a minute!

Well, folks, it has finally happened. Super Dave is sick. Yes, that is correct, even super heros need antibiotics once in a while. Super Dave spent the morning in Mason City Iowa's Finest....Mercy Medical Center Emergency Room. After x-rays, vitals, swapping of insurance card a couple of times, it was deemed that he has bronchitis and that in another day or two Super Dave would've had pneumonia!! Yikes! Super Dave really is quite sick. He is taking his cough syrup laced with Codeine, his antibiotics and I even made Super Dave a chocolate cake and coffee to help him feel a wee bit better. Anyhow, he's down, but he's not out! Super Dave always lands on his feet and comes out swinging! Stay tuned.

We also have insulated walls in Master Suite

Well, here we are sheetrocked. Gone is the ugly blue and maroon splotches of paint, lathe and plaster all gone.

Here is our Project Manager Boots Pierce. This is what Project Manager's do after a big project.

Here's Dolly our Asst. Field Super checking the quality of the insulation. She's very proficient.

Master Suite Demo

Everyone knows that managers sometimes have to wear many hats. Well, this is a prime example. Here is Boots pulling security or guard duty. He's such a trooper!
