History of this house --
Well, this house was built in 1895 but the earliest information I have on it is
C.F. Johnston and wife, Delle H. (Emma Delle Haecker, daughter of Lewis E. Haecker, M.D.) filed June 21, 1915, recorded book 15, page 433. This is known as C.F. Johnston's addition to Sheffield, Iowa
C.F. Johnston and wife Delle sold the house the Schvantge Berding (husband John B. Berding) in 1927 with Laura B. Beed be the financer of this property.
Schvantge Berding passed at home in Sheffield, IA February 19, 1929 and John B. Berding passed in April 1931 at which time their son Herman A. Berding (estate executor) the house was returned to Laura B. Beed in lieu of foreclosure.
Laura B. Beed sold the house to Mrs. Ella Siems, February 1945. December 1978 Mrs. Ella Siems quit claimed her house to Dale M. Siems.
Dale M. Siems deeded the house to John J. Malone and Lorraine M. Malone February 1988
Lorraine M. Malone gained control of the house after her husband John J. passed. October 1991 she deeded the house to Susan M. Collins (spouse Kevin R. Collins) who's mortgage holder was Northwest Bank Iowa, National Association.
Kevin R. and Susan M. Collins deeded the house to Scott M. Koppes and Brenda S. Koppes who's mortgage holder was First Bank National Association, May 1996.
Scott M. Koppes and Brenda S. Koppes deeded the house to Heather L. Root who's mortgage holder was Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, Inc., April 2003.
Heather L. Root sold the house to David Pierce and Jonna Pierce, husband and wife, November 7, 2005.
Since that time, we have ripped, torn, replaced, demolished, rebuilt, etc. We have all new electric, plumbing, all plaster and lathe have been removed and replaced with insulation and drywall. Closets have been added, two bathrooms, one with a whirlpool tub and the other with a custom shower. We've added a laundry room and now have three large sized bedrooms. Before it was two nice size bedrooms and one itty bitty baby bedroom. The biggest feat of all was to level the sagging floors and make the upstairs one level rather than stepping up to get into the bedrooms and down to get into the old bathroom/laundry room. ;-)
